Caņo Island
Caņo Island is a small round hat-shaped island about 20 Kms off the coast. It is speculated to be a pre-Columbian burial ground, with many of the STONE SPHERES or esferas (See INDIGENOUS). This island is reputed in the rainy season to be hit by lightening more than any other location. Because of its 5 coral reef formations surrounding the island and its very clear water, this is one of the best snorkeling and scuba diving sites in Costa Rica (See Costa Rica Adventures).
